"Super Cold" is a song by American rapper Lupe Fiasco, released as the eleventh and penultimate track from his mixtape, Friend of the People: I Fight Evil (2011). It samples the 2010 song "Bad Wings" by The Glitch Mob.
Critical reception[]
Pitchfork said, "drops an incredible floss rhyme."[1] BET noted of its reference to The Shining: "The song masterfully draws parallels between the protagonist's descent into madness and the artist's own journey in the rap industry."[2]
Trivia and cultural references[]
- Free Willy (1993) narrates the story of a 12-year-old boy named Jesse who befriends a captive orca named Willy at an amusement park. When he discovers that the park owner plans to dispose of Willy, he hatches a scheme to break him out of captivity. Fiasco compares this to his friend and business partner who is incarcerated and wants to free Chilly out of prison.

- The Shining (1980) is based on Stephen King's 1977 novel of the same name and centers on Jack Torrance, a writer and recovering alcoholic who becomes the new caretaker of the Overlook Hotel. His son Danny possesses "the shining," a psychic ability that allows him to read minds and perceive events from both the past and future. In the film adaptation, Jack freezes to death in the hedge maze after chasing Danny.
