"Life" (also known as " Life (L.A. to Chicago)") is a song by K-Fox featuring Lupe Fiasco, released as a promotional single in 2003 for K-Fox's forthcoming album.[1] It samples the 1980 song "Just as Long as We Have Love" by Wilbert Longmire.
The track's central theme is poverty, which includes the resilience of the people who continue to live and push through their everyday struggles. During this time, Fiasco was signed to Arista Records.

Life
[Verse 1: Lupe Fiasco]
From city to city, I really did it for y'all
From the itty bitty small, to the really really tall
Where they poor, and they livin' in a shelter
Beggin' with their kids, they're too helpless to help her
If you woke in the trailer park today
Or the park where the ground is too harsh to lay
Or the projects where it's no park to play
And it's too dark to read
And you're too marked to leave
Where wick only buys juicy juice and kicks
It's a trip 'cause the youth is usually used to this
And that's strength, and you gotta be strong
When the drama's on your back and your clothes don't match
And your father is gone
And on top of all that
The water isn't on and your dishes don't match
The teachers say they only come to school to flunk
But there's some that only go to school for lunch
And that's life
[Verse 2: K-Fox]
This one goes out to all of the children
Hangin' out of them buildings
While they just watchin' the asphalt grow
Now some of them got bright futures
And some will never know
'Cause they say that it's a miracle
If we live to see 24
This is for them babies with no fathers
For the people that's starving
Living out here on these streets
To that man that's working too hard
Just to feed his family
He's working two and three jobs
He ain't got time for play at all
'Cause this is his life
[Hook: K-Fox, Children Singing]
Keep on livin' this life
From L.A. to Chicago
Keep on livin' this life
And it don't mater where you come from
We keep livin' this life
There ain't no way to get away from
Keep on livin' this life
[Verse 3: K-Fox]
This is for my people out there hustlin'
To the family that's strugglin'
Living from paycheck to paycheck
The rent is due
The baby needs a pair of shoes
And on top of all that
We've got to deal with self-esteem issues
This is for the ones that go and tell
And say no matter what you do
This money can't buy you happiness
And this is for all we've sacrificed
For all of the pains, for every tear we cry
We just got to keep on living our life
[Hook: K-Fox, Children Singing]
Keep on livin' this life
From L.A. to Chicago
Keep on livin' this life
And it don't mater where you come from
We keep livin' this life
There ain't no way to get away from
Keep on livin' this life
Keep on livin' this life
From L.A. to Chicago
Keep on livin' this life
And it don't mater where you come from
We keep livin' this life
There ain't no way to get away
Keep on livin' this life
[Outro: K-Fox]
While the people are dying
Babies are crying
We sit back and pretend to be blinded, yes
