Lupe Fiasco Wiki

Fahrenheit 1/15 Part II: Revenge of the Nerds (ROTN) is a mixtape by American rapper Lupe Fiasco, released on February 4, 2005, as the second installment of his Fahrenheit 1/15 series.[1] It serves as the follow-up to The Truth Is Among Us (2004). The mixtape features guest appearances from 1st & 15th artists Shayla G and Gemini, along with production by Soundtrakk and Prolyfic. It was mixed by DJ GI. The project mainly samples the 1984 film or song of the same name, Revenge of the Nerds.

Background[]

On February 4, 2005, Fiasco announced the release of his new mixtape via a message board post on the Atlantic Records website. He stated its name, appearances from Gemini and Shayla G, and original, older unreleased tracks and newer ones. He continued there was a caveat for those residing in the United States, where the release will be limited to the UK and Japan, making it more difficult to find in the streets. That said, he hinted of a limited number of copies retained stateside for those who are interested in securing one.[1]

On February 25, 2005, he notified fans that ROTN was nearly done, figuring in mid-March it would be complete.[2] Later on April 24, he said in response to a fan, "Oh by the way REVENGE OF THE NERD: Fahrenheit 1/15 Part II is DONE!!!! It Got all the New Freestyles and A few unreleased exclusives on it Godwilling it should be on the streets like Thursday [April 28]."[3]

Critical reception[]

Sean Fennessey of Pitchfork wrote in his assessment, "Part II shows a marked improvement in his rubbery flow and storytelling abilities, but is again dragged down by obvious freestyle-flips."[4]
