Lupe Fiasco Wiki

Electric Burma is a documentary concert film that celebrates the freedom of pro democracy leader of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi. It was directed by Natalie Johns and released on December 27, 2012, in Ireland. The event itself was held on June 18, 2012, where all proceeds went towards Amnesty International and the Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Trust for Health and Education.[1]

Lupe Fiasco performed at the event, where he debuted his single, "Around My Way (Freedom Ain't Free)," to an international audience.[2] When asked of the importance of celebrating social activists like Kyi, Fiasco responded, "I think it is important that you have people from all different vanguards, from all different walks of society and different viewpoints to be focused on the struggle for equality and democracy. We need as many champions for the cause and as many events as possible to help keep this in focus."[2]
