"Drogas" is a song by American rapper Lupe Fiasco, the second track from his seventh studio album, Drogas Wave (2018). It includes additional vocals from radio personality Letty Martinez in the introduction. Along with 'drogas' meaning 'drugs' in Spanish, Fiasco raps in this language for the song's entirety.
Analysis[]
Letty's verse introduces Fiasco by way of a radio host, acknowledging people from specific regions around North/Central/South America, and Europe (Barcelona), offering warm blessings. Fiasco speaks of religion, women, and peace—very much against drugs ('My God is my drug, if not what am I addicted to' and 'only roses, they are better than coke') and guns ('peace without pistols'). Being one of the album's first tracks, it considers Spain's early participation in the slave trade, since overarching themes on Wave are drugs and slavery. The Spanish and the Portuguese were the first Europeans to use African slaves in the New World, due to a shortage of labor caused by diseases. They believed that Africans were immune to European illnesses because they had not been exposed to them due to their geographic separation. They also developed chattel slavery, the term derived from the Spanish word cahtal.
Fiasco's decision to speak in Spanish allows listeners to connect with Latin America, where he also mentions specific places like Barranquilla, Columbia and Costa Rica). It contains innocuous lyrics that opt for peace and love, which is pretty positive considering "Manilla" is the next track.

¡Drogas! (Yaaay)
[Chorus: Lupe Fiasco]
Coca, tranquilo
Señorita, ven para ir a Barranquilla
[Verse: Lupe Fiasco]
Besos, besos, besos, besos, besos
¿Cómo me veo? ¡Realmente bueno!
Bueno, bueno
Bueno, bueno
Besos, besos, besos, besos, besos
¿Cómo me veo? ¡Realmente bueno!
Bueno, bueno
Bueno, bueno
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
[Chorus: Lupe Fiasco]
Dios es mi droga, si no a qué soy adicta
Bonita chica, se encuentran de Costa Rica
O tal vez Colombia y cantar sobre política

Good morning, my people!
Letty here, saluting wherever you may be
In Texas, Mexico, or Los Angeles; to Colombia, Central and South America, Miami; my pals in the Caribbean, Barcelona and back to Chicago
I send kisses (Mmmuah)
Greetings! And may this day bring you love, money, prosperity
Oh, look! What a surprise!
Our friend Lupe Fiasco gave me some songs to play for you
Are you ready? C'mon, then! Here it goes!
Drogas!
[Chorus: Lupe Fiasco]
My God is my drug, if not what am I addicted to?
Pretty girl, they're from Costa Rica
Or maybe Colombia and sing about politics
Reggae atmosphere, this struggle among all the women
Peace, peace, peace, peace without pistols
Only roses, they are better than coke
Coke, calm/be at peace
Ma'am, come to Barranquilla
[Verse: Lupe Fiasco]
Kisses, kisses, kisses, kisses, kisses
How do I look? Really good!
Good, good
Good, good
Kisses, kisses, kisses, kisses, kisses
How do I look? Really good!
Good, good
Good, good
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Peace!
[Chorus: Lupe Fiasco]
My God is my drug, if not what am I addicted to?
Pretty girl, they're from Costa Rica
Or maybe Colombia and sing about politics
Reggae atmosphere, this struggle among all the women
Peace!
