Coachella

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (also simply known as Coachella) is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. American rapper Lupe Fiasco performed in 2007 and 2009, at the Coachella Stage.^[1]^[2] In 2024, he performed for both weekends on April 14 and 21 at the Heineken House stage.^[3]

Background[]

For the April 14, 2024 show, Tyler, the Creator made a surprise appearance for "Paris, Tokyo", and later tweeted out: "paris tokyo is in my dna. love to lupe, he so cool and a GREAT performer. ive studied him and wow wow i look so great sheesh what an amazing chessboard i made." Fiasco also declared, "Hear me clearly when I say this, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart when it comes to this art, and I quote: I will battle any motherfucking rapper anywhere, any motherfucking time." He continued, "I don't give a fuck how many records you sold. I don't give a fuck how many awards you have. If you want smoke, I swear on my motherfucking soul, I will walk through n*ggas, I will chew up n*ggas, I will body motherfuckers. Quit playing with me! And that goes for every motherfucker walking and talking."^[4]

On April 17, he was asked on Twitter why he was sponsored by Heineken since he was Muslim. Fiasco responded, "True Story: The President of Heineken is a dear brother of mine. When we hang out with the 🤘🏾 crew I could never join in with the after hours drinks so he made Heineken 0.0 for me so I could drink too. So if you see me repping Heineken it's family and 100% non-alcoholic."^[5]
