Child Rebel Soldier (CRS) was an American hip hop supergroup composed of rappers Lupe Fiasco (child), Kanye West (rebel), and Pharrell Williams (soldier). The three embarked on the Glow in the Dark Tour in 2008. Over the span of their active years, they released a total of three songs. They had plans to release a full-length studio album tentatively called God Unwilling, though disbanded in 2013 for unknown reasons. Fiasco and Williams would also create All City Chess Club, which split the same year.

Background

Fiasco told The Guardian about the group in 2008, "It's a superpower kind of situation. Pharrell made it up, so I'll let him explain it. I don't want to give too much away, but it's more than music." In another interview, he said that their releases depended on the fans' response, where "we just seeing if it's there, seeing if the demand is there, if people really want it." Due to their individual careers, often there were schedule conflicts, implied to be the primary reason for their dissolution. Additionally, Fiasco had conflicts with his record label during the time.

In a 2011 interview, when asked about an album, Fiasco responded, "Honestly I don't know, it's all scheduling. We're all three independent artists, all working. It's not like we're dormant, we're all working, so it's about finding that moment where we can all get together and sit down, and come up with the songs and the ideas. We just haven't had the opportunity to do that as of late, enough to put an album, a serious album together, and even if we get to that point, the business of the album coming out is ridiculous because it's three separate labels, three separate interests and that's going to be a paperwork nightmare. So there's elements to it—big hurdles that need to be jumped before we can proceed with it properly and give people what they want, which is an album."

On July 25, 2013, Fiasco confirmed that the group was cancelled. He mentioned in 2020, "Honestly I think Ye and P have moved on...and it isn't really interesting without all 3...and just havin me an 2 random fill ins is whatever..so I think a new trio of young mcs/producers should pick up where we left off and do it. CRS recasted. I’d support that 👍🏾" In 2022, he placed CRS as "TBD" when giving a status update on his musical projects, suggesting possibility of their revival.
