"Baba Kwesi (Interlude)" is a song by Lupe Fiasco, released as the 17th track from his seventh studio album, Drogas Wave (2018). It was spoken by Ronald "Baba Kwesi" Harris (1960-2016), who was an ambassador for M.U.R.A.L and the director of the African-American Male Resource Center at Chicago State University.
The two knew each other for awhile, where in 2013, Fiasco was invited by Kwesi as a keynote speaker for the ceremony, Mass Black Male Graduation and Transition to Manhood. Fiasco also named Harris as one of the inspirations behind the 2014 anti-cancer anthem, "Mission".[1]
Lyrics[]
[Interlude: Baba Kwesi]
Hello. My name is Baba Kwesi Ronald Harris, M.U.R.A.L. Mission Ambassador. Don't ruin us. God said, "Be lifted, be gifted, be spirited. Be you." The worst form of imprisonment is the imprisonment of the mind. For those confined within their mind, knowledge of self is the key. Love will set you free and let you be you. Wise eye always open. Never blind to self. Be you
